That's not to say we don't — or won't – do print design or even websites (hey, we did our own). Ask us for more information; we've got lots to tell and share. In the meantime, the focus of our design practice is EGD. We provide: Wayfinding analysis and strategy: Understanding of and planning for appropriate and effective methods to move people through your building or campus of buildings. Directional, identification, information, orientation, and regulatory sign systems design: Design of visually coordinated signage that achieves the wayfinding strategy. Sometimes the system is very large, requiring many signs and a hierarchical structure. Other times it is a single identification sign for a single destination. We’re experts at both. Directories and orientation maps: We’re specialists in maps that help people quickly orient themselves to their surroundings and get them moving in the right direction to their destination. Donor recognition/donor walls: Donor recognition is an important aspect to our work for institutional clients. We love the challenge of finding creative and meaningful ways to recognize these important people. We love to find ways to create donor walls that are functional and beautiful, a presentation of names that enhances the space. Donor recognition is where art and functionality join forces. Room numbering schemes: An effective room numbering scheme is essential to good wayfinding. All too often we end up having to use room numbers from plans assigned by architects. While those may be good schemes for purpose of building a building they are often (very) poor choices for helping people find their way in a building once it is built. Often this work is performed as part of wayfinding and analysis, but it can be a separate process as well. The most effective way we can help with room numbering is having us review and develop a new scheme as early in the process as possible: it saves time and money in the long run. (Blame it on Mom: Scott remembers very well his mother's advice when starting high-school; "remember, Scott, odd numbers are on one side of the hallway and even numbers are on the other." Was our life's work destiny?) Forms rack design: We’re experts at designing functional and aesthetically appropriate forms racks. In an abstract way, forms racks are signs: they have to attract attention and present information in a coherent manner; it’s just that we don’t control the information as we do for a specific sign layout.
